New breed seed

NewBreed was established with a mission to translate the Hebrew University’s tomato knowledge to superior marketable varieties.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) – the subject of our company – is a favorite vegetable crop for which a tremendous amount of genomic knowledge is available. Tomato is the #1 crop in the eployment of wild species natural genetic variation for the breeding of cutting edge commercial varieties with new traits of productivity and fruit nutritional value.

NewBreed translates the vast tomato genetic resources and expertise that was developed in the laboratory of Prof. Dani Zamir at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to superior F1 hybrids. Genomic information of 3500 mutants, 10,000 varieties from around the world and introgression populations involving seven tomato wild species are being used for classical breeding of varieties for all segments of the tomato market: greenhouse cultivation, open filed production for the fresh market and the processing industry as well as pot tomatoes for decoration and for urban agriculture.

We utilize genetic diversity of 3,500 mutants, 10,000 of varieties from around the world

and traits derived from crosses with several related wild tomato species to develop IP for non-GMO breeding of competitive processing and fresh market tomato hybrids.

NewBreed is active in all categories of tomato breeding including:

Autoflowering

Most cannabis requires the short days of fall to begin flowering. Autoflowering (day neutral) cannabis does not – it will flower no matter what the daylength is, indoor or out. Because they flower automatically, these plants do not get as large as short-day cannabis – they can be grown in small spaces outdoors, such as a back porch.

Feminized

Our seeds are 100% genetically female, so you can be sure that all of your plants will produce usable flowers, without risk of accidentally producing seeds through unintentional pollination. To learn more about feminization check out our blog.
